Lazio have learnt the fates of Matteo Guendouzi and Reda Belahyane who were sent off in the Derby della Capitale.
The Aquile’s early-season woes were vastly aggravated after suffering a defeat at the hands of their eternal rivals, Roma. Lorenzo Pellegrini scored the solitary goal of the contest, after pouncing on a blunder from Nuno Tavares.
As if this situation isn’t sorrowful enough already, Maurizio Sarri will have to work with a decimated midfield. Nicolo Rovella continues to be haunted by a groin issue which could force him to go under the knife, while Fisayo Dele-Bashiru left the pitch early on after picking up a knock.
Moreover, two Lazio midfielders lost their heads in the final stretch. Belhayane kicked Manu Koné twice from behind, which resulted in a straight red card that left the Biancocelesti with a man down for the final 10 minutes, while Guendouzi shouted abusive words towards the match official at the final whistle, earning him his marching orders.
On Tuesday, the sports judge confirmed that the two Lazio players will be serving bans. As La Lazio Siamo Noi reports, Guendouzi has received a two-match suspension for ‘addressing the referee with insults at the end of the match’. On the other hand, Belahyane was granted a more merciful treatment, as his action only warranted a one-match ban.
Therefore, the young Moroccan will only miss next Monday’s away fixture against Genoa, while the former Arsenal and Marseille star will also skip the following home contest against Torino on October 4.
