Ange Postecoglou said 'we're our own worst enemy' after our 2-1 home defeat against Nottingham Forest in the Premier League on Monday night.

Two early goals cost us as Elliot Anderson (five minutes) and Chris Wood (16 minutes) struck for Forest.

That left us with a mountain to climb but we dominated from there. We racked up 22 efforts at goal to Forest's four as Wilson Odobert, Mathys Tel, and Dejan Kulusevski had chances in the first half, Deki then had a header cleared off the line in the second half and Matt Selz denied Richarlison twice before Richy finally planted home a header from Pedro Porro's cross on 87 minutes. However, that was the last of the chances as Forest killed the game in added time.

Speaking afterwards to our Review Show, Ange said: "It's frustration, disappointment, it's another game we should never lose. I'm disappointed in the manner in which we conceded the goals, gave ourselves a mountain to climb, but I'm frustrated because our football was outstanding. Even with the goals we conceded I felt we still deserved to win the game, but it's happened too often this year where we've been our own worst enemy in certain aspects, and it's another loss."

Ange on any reasons for starting poorly...

"It's the finer details... concentration, focus, understanding the threats the opposition have. They're only going to hurt us on transition and counter-attacks, and I thought we handled that really well, with set pieces, so the fact we conceded two from those kind of situations is poor, because on Thursday night (against Eintracht Frankfurt) those kind of things we were doing. Put that to one side and see the way we play, and you are frustrated you lost another game."

Ange on 22-4 efforts on goal telling the story...

"Well, it tells part of the story - the most frustrating part of the story. For us, it's frustrating. Fans will be disappointed, we're disappointed, the hard part to accept is that it's not that we played poorly and lost, you take your medicine, but we're our own worst enemy in some of these games."

Ange on the difficulty of the challenge because of the difference in jeopardy between Europa League and Premier League games...

"It's hard to say. Obviously I'm making changes to the team, and that's potentially disruptive, particularly at the start of games. If our football was poor and disjointed, it would be some sort of explanation, but our football was good. It's just something we've got in our make up at the moment of letting things slip and paying the ultimate price. It's very similar to the night we had here against Frankfurt when we created so many chances you should win, the opposition have a couple of chances and score. From our perspective, we've just got to concentrate better in those key moments."

Ange on the game plan of getting in plenty of crosses...

"Yes, we knew the way they play, they clog up that central area and it's very hard to find ways through. I felt with our two wingers, we could cause them problems, and I thought both the lads did that (Wilson Odobert, Mathys Tell). They took defenders and got a lot of balls into the box. How a couple of them stayed out, I don't know. I thought our general football was in a really good place, we just paid the price for not having the concentration we needed in key moments."

Ange on the plan to play Romero and van de Ven for only 45 minutes...

"If it was a Sunday game, they probably wouldn't have played at all, but with it being Monday, it was a good chance to keep building those guys up, a good chance for Kulusevski, Richarlison, Wilson, Kevin to get some minutes as well. We were able to rest Destiny and Madders, Lucas. That will be helpful as well."

Ange on of preparation is different for Premier League/Europa League games...

"No, it's the same prep, you focus on the opposition and whatever unique challenges they present. Look, the lads are great at taking the information in. Like I said, we hate losing all the time. It's happened too much to us this year, but it's even worse losing when you know your football was good enough to win a game. That's hard to accept."
