Thomas Frank paid tribute to the players’ physical output after beating Slavia Prague 3-0 in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday night.
Three days after a tough, physical battle and win against Brentford in the Premier League - and a schedule of six games in 17 days - the team was tested again by a Slavia side pressing man-to-man.
Thomas said how important it was to ‘keep the intensity high’ as an own goal from Pedro Porro’s corner in the first half and second half penalties from Mo Kudus and Xavi Simons saw us home 3-0 in MD6 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
“I have big respect for Slavia Prague,” reflected Thomas on SPURSPLAY. “They never make it easy because of the way they press man-to-man, that makes it a little awkward in some situations, but it's about doing the right things you want to do, keeping the intensity high, keep running in behind them. I liked how we did that. In the end, we did the job, got the three points, clean sheet, something to build on again, so it was nice.”
Asked what particularly pleased him about the performance, Thomas added: “I would say the overall focus, effort, and keeping going after a tough game and lot of effort against Brentford. We had to produce again, so there was a big physical output again, which we needed, and I liked. I also liked there was, again, offensive signs of something very dangerous.
“We’ve spoken about it a lot of times, but the home form is so important, in many ways, and Champions League form has been very good. So, three clean sheets, we're in a good position now, so, happy.”
