Spurs boss Vilahamn pleased to see Brazil shine at Charlton Athletic | OneFootball

Tottenham Hotspur head coach Robert Vilahamn says that he is pleased to see former forward Ellie Brazil shine at Charlton Athletic.

The Lilywhites could come up against Brazil when they face The Addicks in a Women’s League Cup tie at The Valley this evening.

Brazil spent two seasons with Spurs but missed more than a year of football after sustaining an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury. The player joined Charlton Athletic in the summer and she has scored three goals in four games for the South East Londoners.

When speaking in the pre-match press conference, Spurs boss Vilahamn said that he is pleased that Brazil is getting minutes and scoring goals.

“I am really happy for her that she is getting the game time and goals that she deserves,” Vilahamn said. “She is a brilliant professional footballer and it makes me feel very happy that she is performing that well.

“She will be a threat because she is quick, she can run so much and she is a goalscorer but on the other hand, we handle good strikers every game and we know how to minimise spaces. We know how we can try to stop her but it’s going to be an interesting game with her playing against us.”

Charlton Athletic gave Spurs a tough game when the two sides met in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup last season. The Lilywhites were able to record a narrow 1-0 victory. Vilahamn has plenty of respect for the Barclays Women’s Championship side ahead of the latest meeting.

He said “They were competing at the top of the table last season and they gave us a really tough game in the cup. They have started brilliantly this season.

“It’s not going to be an easy game. It’ll be fun to play at their stadium and I think we have a good chance to have a good game. I have enormous respect because it feels like they are pushing for WSL next season. It’ll be a tough game but we are prepared for it.”
