Tottenham Hotspur head coach Robert Vilahamn says that he is pleased with the number of players that have already got on the scoresheet so far this season.

The Lilywhites recently lost the services of star forward Beth England for a period through injury but no less than eight other players have found the back of the net in the opening three matches of the new campaign.

When speaking to the media ahead of this weekend’s trip to Brighton & Hove Albion, Vilahamn said that he is pleased that players are getting into the right positions and scoring goals.

“If you play as a nine in my formation, you will score goals but you can’t score all of the goals, so that’s why I have a lot of players up there,” Vilahamn said.

“If you look at the last game, a full-back scored, a full-back contributed an assist, the 10 scores goals. For me, it is so much better to have a lot of players that can score goals to take the pressure off the number nine. Still, Martha (Thomas) is scoring every game, so we have the number nine scoring goals and other players. I am very happy with that.”

Spurs are set to face a number of sides who are expected to be in and around the middle of the table in the coming weeks and Vilahamn is hoping that his side can really push on in developing their playing style.

He said “These games will be really good for us to make sure that we develop the game and how we play. Hopefully, these opponents won’t be totally dominant against us, I actually hope that we can dominate a lot. We can make sure we develop how we want; to play the Tottenham style and how we do that.

“Hopefully, we can get the points that we need so that when we play the top teams, we can ride on that wave. I hope we can do that but if not, it is about improving every game because these teams are also battling, they all want to be up there. We need to be sharp but we have a good chance of performing well and getting results.”

Tottenham Hotspur’s Barclays Women’s Super League fixture at Brighton & Hove Albion kicks-off at 4pm on Sunday afternoon.
