Their report states that they will prepare a bid in January, and if that is not possible – they will try to secure his services in the summer of 2025 on a free transfer.

The club have the option to extend the skipper’s contract for an extra 12 months, although there have been recent reports suggesting that they have developed a sense of caution regarding a deal – with further reports implying that Son and his camp are not happy about that. That report also suggests the club are not willing to give him a fresh, unrelated contract, but just simply the automatic extension.

Furthermore, they suggest that Son has interest from the Saudi Pro League. We have seen many superstars go to Saudi Arabia in the last couple of years, and even as far back as the likes of Fabio Cannavaro. It is something that would be completely out of the realms of possibility.

We have, however, also seen a lot of stars go to the Turkish Super Lig, when unwinding their career. You get to play in intense, incredible atmospheres, enjoy the weather of that part of the world - whilst also getting to play European football at the same time, and play some of the biggest clubs in the world.

The report from the Turkish media say that Galatasaray are in the market for a left-winger, having sold Kerem Aktürkoğlu to Benfica, and loaned Wilfried Zaha to Lyon.

Of course, in football you have to be cruel to be kind and you should try and do what is best for the club, but by the same token - you must show respect for a player that has given you everything. At the height of the Harry Kane saga in the summer of 2021, Son signed a four year contract at the club, despite being able to play for pretty much any club in the world that he would want to.

Regardless of what happens, the least the 32-year old deserves is some clarity on his future as soon as possible. The longer it goes on with his situation being up in the air, the more likely it is that he departs the club. Absolutely no need to panic at the moment, but definitely a situation for Spurs to focus on and sort out, as soon as possible.
