Tottenham Hotspur have opened talks with Crystal Palace to sign forward Eberechi Eze.

Journalists Jacob Steinberg and Ed Aarons of The Guardian are reporting that Spurs aren't willing to pay the £68 million release clause to sign the 27-year-old but have opened talks with Palace.

However, Tottenham face difficulties in completing the deal with North London rivals Arsenal also said to be keen on Eze, who reportedly prefers to join the Gunners.

Eze initially joined Palace from Queens Park Rangers for £17 million back in 2020 and has since featured 168 times for the Eagles, scoring 41 goals and assisting 28.

The 27-year-old also played all 120 minutes of Palace's Community Shield victory over Liverpool, although he did fail to score his penalty in the shoot-out.
