The Tottenham playmaker has yet to feature under Frank this term after undergoing Patella surgery at the end of last season.

His return to the side has been one of the major talking points of a difficult campaign, with Spurs missing a creative spark in his absence, and pushed on when he could return to fitness, Frank said the Swede’s injury was a difficult one to manage.

“I would love to have him back soon. Unfortunately, it was a tricky injury he got so it just takes time,” Frank said on Monday.

“He is a key player and has been such a key player for us.

“They are working very hard and he is working very hard to come back on the pitch.”

Kulusevski is one of a number of key attacking players Frank has been unable to use since taking charge of Spurs in June.

Mohammed Kudus’ thigh injury, which will likely see him miss Wednesday’s trip to Bournemouth, has further depleted Frank’s options in attack, and Spurs are set to enter the January transfer market to add attacking reinforcements.

13th in the table and with just two wins from their last 11 league games, Frank is under increasing pressure, but the Dane says that Spurs remain an attractive proposition for players this month despite their results.

“I think we are very attractive in many ways. I think Spurs is a fantastic club with a huge potential,” Frank continued.

“I think some of the boxes you need to tick is, of course, the stadium and the training ground and the potential.

“Of course, if we compete against the three teams that are clearly ahead of us - City, Arsenal, and Liverpool, unfortunately - then those three clubs are probably more attractive right now.

“That’s not to say that we can’t attract some of the players that also want to go to those clubs.

“It depends a little bit if there is a spot available for the player to play in those clubs and here, for example.”
