Spurs head coach is at the start of his process in north London
Thomas Frank pointed to Mikel Arteta and Arsenal as he urged Tottenham to stick to a philosophy over a period of time.
The Spurs boss will get his first experience of a competitive north London derby on Sunday when his side look to end their 15-year winless run away at Arsenal in the Premier League.
Arteta is now a veteran of the fixture, having taken charge of Arsenal six years ago, and this looks set to be the fourth season in a row in which the Gunners mount a serious title challenge.
In that period, Spurs have jolted between the likes of Jose Mourinho, Antonio Conte and Ange Postecoglou.
Arsenal sit four points clear at the top of the table heading into their derby clash, but Frank was keen to emphasise how long it has taken to get to their position of strength.
"I think it's a good example of a club that sticks to the process," Frank said.
"I know it's me in charge, but there are so many more people working, but sticking to what we believe in over a longer period. I think six years, it's very rare you get that long in football.
"I also think it's fair to say that it took probably three seasons for Arteta. So the fourth season, that's where he competed, now he's in the seventh season. So he's really, really ready to compete in his fourth season. So it took over, then two full seasons, then the fourth one.
"So I think that's how you should see it. And then we know the difference between having ultimate success to win something or not is like this, and you need margins. But the process is the most important thing."

Arteta was fairly ruthless in overhauling his squad in his early transfer windows at Arsenal, as the club moved on from the big names of Mesut Ozil, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette.
Asked if he had already identified players at Spurs who would not be part of a long-term project under him, Frank said: "I think it is natural that if we look at six years time, it will be a different squad.
"It is just natural. Some will be sold, some will develop, some will maybe not develop as much as you want to, so it’s a natural thing. It is not me taking my decision that him, him and him need to leave now.
"But of course during the spring we will look into that, which is natural in terms of developing a squad."
