Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed the departure of another manager, with Women’s team head coach Robert Vilahamn leaving the club.

It comes just two days after the sacking of Ange Postecoglou after two years in charge.

Like Postecoglou, Vilahamn took charge at the club for the start of the 2023/24 season and has been relieved of his duties after two seasons.

The Swedish coach enjoyed some success in his first campaign, guiding Spurs to their first ever Women’s FA Cup final. Although they succumbed to a disappointing 4-0 defeat in the final, it was still an achievement to take the side to their first major final in history.

This, coupled with a satisfactory 6th place WSL finish, earned Vilahamn a three-year contract extension last July. However, things did not go so well this season.

After a troubled campaign, Spurs slumped to an 11th placed finish in the WSL. Like the men’s team, they ended the season just one position above the relegation zone.

This season, Vilahamn’s side were knocked out of the FA Cup in the first tie that they played. They were also eliminated from the League Cup in their first knockout tie.

Tottenham’s statement read: “We can confirm that Women’s First Team Head Coach Robert Vilahamn has left the Club.

“Having joined us in July, 2023, following a spell in charge of Swedish club BK Hacken, Robert guided us to a sixth-place finish in the Barclays Women’s Super League while we also reached the Adobe Women’s FA Cup Final for the first time in our history in May, 2024.

“Robert departs after finishing in 11th position following the conclusion of the 2024/25 WSL campaign.”

Managing Director of Tottenham Hotspur Women Andy Rogers added: “There have been some special moments during Robert’s tenure, including reaching the FA Cup final for the first time.

“However, results and performances this season have not been to the level we would expect and now is the right time to make a change.

“We should like to thank Robert for his professionalism and efforts over the past two seasons, and we wish him well for the future.”
