Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed that they have parted ways with Thomas Frank, just eight months into his tenure in North London.

The Dane was appointed in June 2025 following the controversial decision to sack Ange Postecoglou, who had delivered Spurs’ first major trophy since 2008 with victory over Manchester United in the UEFA Europa League final.

The Lilywhites underperformed in the Premier League during the last season of Postecoglou’s tenure, and once again find themselves in the midst of a fierce relegation battle under Frank.

Home victories have been hard to come by, with Tottenham recording just two Premier League victories in N17 since the start of the season, and Tuesday’s 1-2 defeat at home to Newcastle left them just five points above the relegation zone.

Frank spoke in his post-match press conference and insisted he would be in charge for Sunday’s Premier League meeting with Arsenal, saying: “I understand it’s easy to point at me, but I also think it’s never only the head coach or the ownership or the directors or the players or the staff.”

In an official statement issued via the club website, Spurs indicated that “results and performances have led the Board to conclude that a change at this point is necessary.”

Mauricio Pochettino, who is currently preparing to lead the United States into a home World Cup, is the early bookmakers’ favourite to succeed Frank.
