Robert Vilahamn has been pleased with recent performances and looks to build on that ahead of our Adobe Women’s FA Cup fifth round tie against Charlton Athletic on Saturday evening (5.15pm KO).

This weekend’s game will mark the third game in the space of seven days, drawing with Liverpool last Sunday after the Reds scored the equaliser in injury-time, before falling to a narrow 1-0 defeat to Manchester City on Wednesday evening as our FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup journey came to an end.

Despite the results, Robert was keen to point out the improvements in both displays and has praised for how his players have stuck together.

Speaking in pre-match press conference on Friday afternoon, the boss said: “It was still two good games with good performances. I think you can tell we are looking better in defence and we look good in the build-up.

“We want to score more goals as we want to be an attacking team, and there’s always an opponent stopping us doing that, so we need to develop there because we played against two really good teams recently.

“But, on the other hand, I see us trying to do good stuff and I’m pleased with that and, of course, it has been nice to see how we stick together and how we look like a team right now as we try to play the football we want and look like a Tottenham Hotspur team. So, I’m quite happy with the performances even though the results haven’t been the best.”

The Addicks head to Brisbane Road in excellent form this season, currently sitting top of the FA Women’s Championship and 12 games unbeaten in the league, led by a former manager of ours, Karen Hills.

Hills was at the helm for over a decade at Hotspur Way and led us to promotion to the WSL for the first time in 2019, and Robert is looking forward to welcoming her back and recognises the challenges her side will pose on Saturday.

Robert added: “I know she has been here before and has a good relationship with the Club, so it will be nice to play against her again. They are doing very well and I think they are one of the teams who could get promoted to WSL next season, so I’m impressed with what they are doing.

“It will be a tough game, but I know when we are playing Championship sides and we reach the levels we want to achieve, I know we have a good chance of winning so we need to go into this game with a professional mindset and play our style.

“So, hopefully, we have learnt from the Manchester City game and look to win on Saturday and have a good cup run.”

Supporters can buy tickets on the day at Brisbane Road, or watch online via the Adobe Women's FA Cup social channels and The FA Player.
