The Championship’s Spygate saga is rumbling on, with an EFL decision on Southampton’s charge expected soon after their play-off tie with Middlesbrough.
According to ExpressAndStar.com, Middlesbrough are set to present evidence to the EFL alleging up to three other Championship clubs were targeted, with Millwall, Norwich and Bristol City named, although that has not been confirmed.
Southampton were charged last week after it was claimed a member of their backroom staff was caught spying on Middlesbrough before the clubs met in the play-offs. The first leg finished 0-0, then Saints booked a place in the Championship showpiece for the second time in three seasons.
The club are not celebrating, with the charge hanging over them and speculation that they could well be removed from the play-offs.
Middlesbrough continue to train despite losing in the semi-final, as they await the outcome of Southampton’s independent hearing.
