St Louis CITY forward Nicholas Gioacchini is edging close to a transfer to Serie B side Como.
The upcoming move reported by transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano comes after the 23-year-old registered 10 goals and one assist in 37 appearances across all competitions in 2023, which was St Louis' inaugural Major League Soccer season.
Should the deal go through, it will be a return to Europe for Gioacchini. The young forward had previous stints with the likes of Paris FC B, Caen, and Montpellier in France before moving to MLS in the summer of 2022 to sign with Orlando City.
Romano reports that the only thing holding the move up is paperwork formalities that MLS should iron out quite soon.
The Kansas City, Missouri native has represented the US men's national team eight times, scoring three goals since his international debut in November 2020. He was part of the USMNT squad that lifted the 2021 Gold Cup as well as the 2022 US Open Cup with Orlando City.
Gioacchini joins a Como side that currently sit in third place in the Italian second division 38 points from 20 games played behind Venezia and Parma.
St Louis begins their 2024 season on February 20 with a Concacaf Champion Cup clash with Houston Dynamo before their first MLS contest of the season on February 24 against Real Salt Lake.
