Stade Rennais’ Breel Embolo (29) is reportedly set to join Atlanta United, according to information from Ouest-France.
The Swiss player (92 caps, 26 goals), who had a fixed release clause for this summer, is expected to sign for the Major League Soccer franchise for a fee of just over €17m. An agreement between the player and the Five Stripes is said to have already been reached.
By joining Atlanta, Embolo is set to become the second most expensive signing in the club’s history; in the winter of 2025, the club spent around €21m to secure the services of Middlesbrough player Emmanuel Latte Lath (27)
Having joined Rennes last summer after three seasons with AS Monaco, the centre-forward enjoyed an impressive 2025-26 season, proving decisive on 13 occasions (10 goals, three assists) in 34 appearances across all competitions.
Embolo, who was part of the Switzerland squad at the World Cup, played six matches for his team, scoring two goals and providing two assists.
