The latest updates offer some reassurance regarding Josué Homawoo. After being stretchered off during the Standard de Liège versus Mechelen clash in the Jupiler Pro League, the Togolese defender has remained hospitalized since the incident.
After a collision with Bilal Bafdili just 30 seconds into the game, the 27-year-old defender was substituted ten minutes later, leaving the pitch conscious and replaced by Ibrahim Karamoko. There were major concerns about his health status at the time.
The Rouches issued a rather reassuring statement this morning on their official X account: “Josué Homawoo is in the emergency department at CHU Liège, where he will remain under observation at least until tomorrow. The initial tests are reassuring and have not revealed any injury or hematoma to his skull or cervical spine.”
The statement further notes that “additional tests will be conducted in the coming days” and that “the length of his absence will be assessed soon.”
