Standard Liege have announced that Burkina Faso international Abdoul Tapsoba is joining FC Sheriff on loan until December 2023. The 21-year-old striker was in negotiations with RFC Seraing, but the loan to the Liege rivals failed to materialise. Tapsoba, who has four goals in 16 games for Burkina Faso, only made three appearances for the Standard first team this season, scoring one goal. The loan deal also includes a purchase option.

The player has struggled with injuries this season and has therefore seen limited game time, despite the side struggling for goals. Tapsoba will join fellow Burkinabe forward Abdou Ouattara in Moldova, who joined the side from French side Valenciennes FC in the summer of 2022.

Standard were active in the transfer window in terms of getting rid of players. Nicolas Raskin moved to Rangers, with the club getting what they could for a player out of contract in the summer. The young midfielder rejected a number of Bundesliga sides in favour of the Scottish club. Selim Amallah, also out of contract in the summer, got his move to La Liga joining Real Valladolid.
