Conor Chaplin broke the game open in the 20th minute with a left-footed finish as Portsmouth beat West Bromwich Albion 3-0. The forward later created another goal to crown an influential display.
He drifted into space and finished high, setting the tone for Portsmouth's control. The movement pinned defenders and gave him repeat access to central pockets.
On the stroke of half time, he twice picked the right pass, first for Terry Devlin and then for Adrian Segecic, forcing saves that kept Portsmouth pressing.
After the restart, he threaded a through ball for Ebou Adams to slot in (49.), a neat disguise that split the back line and ended the contest.
He finished with six attempts, two on target, plus four key passes and one assist, a blend of threat and supply that underlined his role as Portsmouth's creative hub.
Portsmouth host Ipswich Town next. West Bromwich Albion welcome Stoke City.
