Andre Brooks decided the contest in the 66th minute with a left-footed finish into the top left corner, as Sheffield United beat Oxford United 3-1.
He found the space to meet Thomas Cannon's lay-off and swept in from the centre of the box (66.), the moment that put the Blades in front for good.
Brooks was then withdrawn with an injury (71.), but the damage was done and his influence had already tilted the night Sheffield United's way.
He finished with two attempts, six touches in the box and 10 successful final third passes, a profile that showed how Brooks linked play and attacked the inside channels for the Blades.
With the Blades enjoying 70.0% possession, his timing between Oxford lines repeatedly asked questions and ensured United controlled the key phases.
The Blades rise from 17th to 15th in the Championship table. They host Middlesbrough next. Oxford visit Coventry City next.
