Kevin Viveros struck in the fourth minute to put Athletico Paranaense ahead as they beat Botafogo 4-1. The Colombia forward then netted again in the third minute of first half stoppage time to seize control.
He burst into the right channel and finished from a tight angle (4.), punishing the Glorioso back line and setting the tone for the night.
On the stroke of the interval, Viveros arrived between centre-backs to guide a low finish into the bottom left from Gaston Americo Benavidez's cross in first half stoppage time.
After the restart he won a right-wing free kick (48.). From the ensuing set piece, Athletico-PR extended their advantage through Juan Aguirre (49.), underlining how Viveros's movement kept the visitors off balance.
He kept asking questions late on, drawing another foul wide on the right (81.) that preceded Lucas Esquivel's free kick strike. He finished with two attempts, both on target, four fouls won and six possessions regained, a snapshot of his pressing and penalty-box edge.
Furacão rise from sixth to second in the table. The Fogão remain 17th. Furacão visit Bahia next. The Glorioso host Mirassol next.
