Vasilis Barkas preserved the stalemate in the 64th minute with a sharp low save from a close-range header, as Utrecht drew 0-0 at Heracles.
He had already read the flight and, at full stretch, turned away Lequincio Zeefuik's header from Alec Van Hoorenbeeck's delivery, a pivotal moment as Heracles ramped up their set piece pressure.
Moments later he was at it again, springing to his left to tip Sem Scheperman's header bound for the top corner (74.). From distance, he then stood tall to palm over Ajdin Hrustic's rising strike (79.).
The Greek goalkeeper finished with three saves and one high claim, commanding his area when Utrecht faced a barrage of 12 corners. His handling and positioning took the sting out of Heracles' most dangerous moments and kept the visitors stable in a second half played largely in their half.
This display keeps Utrecht eighth in the Eredivisie and they visit FC Twente next. Heracles remain 18th and go to AZ.
