Daniel Farke’s side have retained their Premier League status following a 1-1 draw against Tottenham Hotspur on Monday evening.

With a crucial objective of securing top-flight football now achieved, the Yorkshire club have shifted their focus towards the summer transfer window as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of next season.

They have been heavily linked with Sporting Lisbon midfielder Morita, who will be out of contract this summer.

He joined Sporting Lisbon in 2022 and has since established himself as a key figure in the side, regularly featuring in European competition for the Portuguese giants.

The 30-year-old midfielder has registered five goal contributions in 30 Primeira Liga appearances this season.

There have been conflicting claims as to whether Leeds do want Morita, but according to Portuguese sports daily A Bola, the midfielder ‘dreams of the Premier League’.

It is claimed that there is a two-year deal on offer at Leeds for Morita, which also contains an option for a further 12 months.

Given Morita’s clear desire to move to the Premier League, Leeds should be in a strong position to sign him if they want to.

If the Whites waver though, other Premier League sides could see real value in an experienced midfielder available on a free transfer.

He has shone at Sporting Lisbon and proven to be a reliable performer for the Portuguese giants.

Available on a free transfer, Morita would suit Leeds’s recent recruitment strategy, with the Whites having secured similar deals for Lukas Nmecha and Dominic Calvert-Lewin last summer.

Morita could further showcase his abilities this summer at the World Cup.

Farke will be keen to get Leeds’ business in the summer right, as he will be all too aware of second-season syndrome striking in the Premier League.
