ONE-WAY TRAFFIC IN LE CLASSIQUE...

By scoring three times in the first half at the Orange Vélodrome on Sunday evening, Les Parisiens enjoyed their first-ever three-goal half-time lead away to Marseille in any competition.

As the dominant team from the first minute to the last, Paris racked up 916 passes during last night's game, which is the highest such total of any side over the course of a single match in Ligue 1 this season.

The capital club's total control over the encounter was also characterised by their 74.6% possession, leaving Marseille with a figure of just 25.4%. This is the lowest-ever possession percentage recorded by Les Phocéens in a Ligue 1 game at the Vélodrome since Opta records began for the competition in the 2006–07 season.

...AND AN EVER-GROWING SUPREMACY

Thanks to their memorable display last night, Les Parisiens notched up their 51st win over Marseille in 108 matches (23 draws and 34 losses otherwise), thereby confirming their status as the club that has inflicted the most defeats on OM in its history, having done so at least five more times than any other team in any competition.

Les Rouge et Bleu also managed to keep another clean sheet against their biggest rivals yesterday, which means that they have now gone five Ligue 1 games without conceding a single goal against Les Marseillais, whose goal drought against the capital club is now the joint-longest in their history, alongside the ones against Bordeaux from 2000 to 2001 and against Lille from 2000 to 2002.

Despite that, one Marseille player did end up finding the back of the net at the Vélodrome last night. Unfortunately for the hosts, though, it was Leonardo Balerdi with an own goal, making him the eighth OM player to put the ball into his own net in the history of Le Classique and continuing Marseille's unrivalled generosity towards Les Rouge et Bleu in their meetings with each other.

Fresh off the back of another league victory, Paris Saint-Germain are now unbeaten in their last 11 top-flight games and have even avoided defeat in each of their last 29 away matches in Ligue 1, registering 22 wins and seven draws in that time. As well as being the longest streak of its kind in the competition's history, this record-breaking run began at none other than the Orange Vélodrome on 26th February 2023, with an equally emphatic 3-0 win.

Bradley Barcola and Ousmane Dembélé continue to shine

By netting Paris's third of the evening, Bradley Barcola scored his eighth goal of the league season, thereby ensuring that he remains Ligue 1's top scorer. Barcola isn't the only player to have distinguished himself during that move, though, as the assist was delivered to the no. 29 on a plate by a certain Ousmane Dembélé. With yet another goal involvement to his name against Les Phocéens, the capital club's winger has now contributed to five goals against Marseille (scoring one and assisting in four), which is more than what he has managed against any other team in this respect. The France international was seemingly everywhere last night, as shown by his 112 touches, which is his personal best for a league encounter.
