Check out the key facts and figures from the Ligue 1 Round 2 clash between Paris Saint-Germain and Montpellier.

APERITIF AND STARTER

A great match is like a great meal in a restaurant. It's all about feel, taste and service. After you've placed your order, of course, there's an aperitif. And it's Bradley Barcola who delivered it on a platter. As soon as you ask for it, the drink arrives at breakneck speed. We don't like stragglers this season! Four minutes in and Barcola had already struck the first blow with a wonderful goal, in trademark style.

On the stroke of half-time, we got our second assist 'à la Portugaise'. João Neves, who had set up Barcola before repeating the feat for Asensio to bag Paris's second goal, notched up his third and fourth assists of the season, following the two against Le Havre last week. The new Rouge et Bleu midfielder is the first player to provide four assists in his first two matches since Opta started monitoring the competition, ahead of a certain Neymar (3). It was a beautiful goal, and the perfect start to what lay ahead.

MAIN COURSE

As is customary in the finest Michelin-starred restaurants, we waited impatiently for the next course. And it was on a silver platter that Ousmane Dembélé enabled Barcola to score the very first double of his career in official competition. Bradley added his own personal statistical seasoning, as he has been involved in eight goals (five goals, three assists) in his last seven top-flight appearances for Paris.

And the accompaniment was just as wonderful - and with a southern twist. Mendes' cross was perfectly met by Hakimi, who volleyed the ball in just like a master chef produces his signature dish. It was a feast for the eyes, a delight for the Parc, a star-studded evening!

DESSERT

It's impossible to finish such a radiant meal without a touch of sweetness. Warren Zaïre-Emery, who fancied himself a pastry chef, produced a dash of nutmeg and a caramel finish past Lecomte for Paris' fifth goal. Paris roll on, unbeaten in Ligue 1 in August since 2019... the capital club have won 84% of their games in the top flight played during this month (27/32 - three draws, two defeats), besting only their historical record in the month of November (89% - 25/28).A touch of salted butter? The debut of Désiré Doué, making his first appearance in a Paris shirt. We're looking forward to his desserts too!

COFFEE AND THE BILL

What better way to end a moment of grace than with a deliciously aromatic coffee? Kang-In Lee, who served breakfast against Le Havre, finished the feast against Montpellier with his gourmet left foot. MHSC is a club that Lee is very fond of, having scored in both legs against the Hérault outfit last season. It was a great scoreline, and one that should be framed. Paris now have six points ans are off to a flying start this season.

Paris have scored ten goals in their first two matches in Ligue 1 2024-25, equalling their highest total at this stage of the competition (also ten in 2022-23). Welcome to France's finest restaurant.
