Xabi Alonso’s Real Madrid came up well short of hosts Rayo Vallecano when it comes to both sprints and distance covered on Sunday.

As much has been confirmed by the post-match statistics to have surfaced online.

Los Blancos of course made the trip to Vallecas a short time ago, to see out their fixture list heading into the November international break.

When all was said and done, however, the visitors were forced to make do with a share of the spoils, in a goalless stalemate.

Real’s players have since been singled out for heavy criticism, accused of simply not wanting the three points as much as their hosts.

And as alluded to above, the statistics to have surfaced in the game’s aftermath would appear to support such a theory.

As per journalist Javier Rodríguez Pascual, Rayo Vallecano racked up 113.5km of distance covered over the course of the 90 minutes, to Real Madrid’s 105.3.

In addition, the former were responsible for 480 total sprints, to Los Merengues’ 417.
