Stefano Pioli sacked by Fiorentina

The tenure of Stefano Pioli at Fiorentina was brief. The manager could not withstand the series of poor results and was officially sacked on Tuesday, two days after a defeat to Lecce in the Serie A.

Fiorentina confirmed Pioli's departure in an official statement published on the club's website, with a short message of gratitude for his services. His stint lasted just 14 games, with four wins, four draws, and six losses.

"The club would like to thank the coach and his staff for the professionalism demonstrated throughout their tenure," the statement read.

Youth team coach Daniele Galloppa will temporarily take over at Fiorentina in Pioli's absence. Roberto D'Aversa former Empoli manager, is the name being discussed in the Italian press as the likely replacement.

Pioli's poor stint is a surprise with the manager having guided AC Milan to the Scudetto as recently as the 2021/22 campaign.
