Stefano Sturaro has insisted that the befuddlement surrounding his move from Juventus to Genoa last month has not bothered him.

There was some bemusement in January when the Grifone decided to make Sturaro’s loan move permanent for a fee of €18m.

That was despite the veteran midfielder still having not played a minute for the senior team since his arrival last summer.

Sturaro though, has claimed that he is just focusing on trying to get fit.

“The talk doesn’t bother me,” he told reporters.

“[My fee] is for the club to deal with. I was a Juventus player and now I belong to Genoa. I don’t care about what they do between them.

“Maybe some of our fans made comments that I didn’t think were appropriate, but it’s all part of the life of a footballer.

“We must take the good and bad from our work. I’m a professional and I’m paid to be one.”

Sturaro has been sidelined with an Achilles problem, so how is his recovery going?

“I feel pretty good, I’m working hard,” assured the 25-year-old.

“I still have some ups and downs. The path I’m taking seems like the right one, but it takes time.

“I’ve been out for several months. My physical condition is important, so we’ll talk again when it improves.

“I don’t want to make predictions about my return. It’s better not to say anything. My relationship with the team? I’m very happy.

“The lads here are fantastic and the strength of a group starts from the dressing room. The future is on our side.

“I’ll probably go with the Primavera squad to start with. I’m disappointed about not travelling to Chievo, but I’d miss out on some training.”
