Stellenbosch FC claimed a 4-3 win over Golden Arrows in a seven-goal thriller in the Betway Premiership at Athlone Stadium on Wednesday.

The Cape Winelands outfit took the lead through starlet Langelihle Phili in the 14th minute, before Siyanda Mthanti leveled matters on the stroke of half time.

Lanky striker Andre de Jong restored the lead four minutes after the restart, while Sede Dion equalized for the visitors in the 54th minute.

The New Zealand international, whose deadline day move to Orlando Pirates collapsed, completed his brace to give Stellies a 3-2 lead in the hour mark.

Highly rated Ivorian midfielder Isaac Cisse made it 3-3 in the 74th minute, but Muzomuhle Khanyi ensured maximum points remain in the mother city with a goal two minutes later.

As a result, Steve Barker's charges snapped a five-game winless run in the Betway Premiership and secured their first league win since August in a narrow triumph over Marumo Gallants.

Moreover, the Maroons moved out of the relegation zone and climbed to 13th place, having uncharacteristically amassed nine points from their first 10 league outings.

On the other hand, Arrows saw their two-game winning streak halted and are currently in ninth place with 13 points from 10 games.
