Stéphane Burchkalter appointed Fifpro secretary general

Stéphane Burchkalter has been appointed secretary general of Fifpro, the global union for professional players.

According to L'Équipe, the appointment was made last week at the organisation’s world council meeting in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

His elevation follows that of fellow Frenchman David Terrier, who is president of Fifpro Europe and of the UNFP, the French players’ union.

Burchkalter heads the UNFP’s legal department, and had already served as Fifpro deputy secretary general and secretary general of its Africa division.

UNFP president David Terrier described it as a major source of pride for the union and a deserved recognition.
