Diarra is about to embark on a new journey in his professional career.
Stéphane Diarra is heading to Ligue 1: When is the deal done?
Following the expiry of his contract with Ligue 1 side FC Lorient, Stéphane Diarra has not been officially linked to any club and now reports are suggesting that he could move to Ligue 2 side Pau FC after the club's strong interest in his services.
The Ivorian winger possesses outstanding technical abilities, so he is expected to receive offers from clubs from far and wide, especially from French clubs that recognise his potential.
Several news sites specialising in African football news have revealed that the player is interested in several clubs, including AfricaFoot, which had already revealed last week that Pau FC is the club interested in signing the Ivorian star.
At 26 years old, French winger Stéphane Diarra finds himself at a career crossroads. After a frustrating 2023/24 campaign with FC Lorient that saw him limited to just six appearances across all competitions (with zero goals or assists), the talented attacker is now a free agent - and several clubs are circling.
Once considered a bright prospect during his spells at Stade Rennais, AS Saint-Étienne, and Le Mans, Diarra's career has stalled somewhat in recent years. Yet his €800,000 market valuation (per Transfermarkt) suggests the potential remains for this explosive wide player to reignite his career.
Sources indicate Ligue 2 side Pau FC are leading the chase for Diarra's signature. Should the move materialize, it would mark the sixth French club of his nomadic career - and perhaps the perfect platform to rediscover his best form.
