Feyenoord winger Raheem Sterling has been arrested after crashing his Lamborghini into roadside barriers in Hampshire, suspected of drug driving, dangerous driving, drug possession and failing to take a test.

Hampshire Police said a 31-year-old man from Berkshire was held on suspicion of drug driving, possession of class C drugs and failing to take a test, and later released on bail. No other vehicles were involved and nobody was hurt. The force did not name the driver.

Sterling joined the Eredivisie club in February after terminating his Chelsea contract, and has made eight appearances.

Born in Jamaica, he has played three World Cups and two European Championships for England. His peak years came at Manchester City between 2015 and 2022, when he won 12 trophies, having earlier broken through at Liverpool from 2011 to 2015.

Chelsea signed him for 52 million euros on a five-season deal listed as 22-24. He completed the first two campaigns, spent the third on loan at Arsenal, who declined to extend, and was then sidelined by Chelsea and told to find a new club in the Netherlands.
