Steve Cooper has been sacked by Brondby a day after their final match of the season. He was appointed in September on a three-year deal and oversaw a fourth-placed league finish. Alan Tate has also departed the Danish club.

In a club statement, the appointment was described as an attempt to lift Brondby to a new level, with progress seen in some areas.

The statement added that results and on-pitch performances had not matched that aim and expressed gratitude for their work and commitment.

At the same time Brondby confirmed Julius Ohnesorge as football director, outlining a plan to stand for a clear team, culture and direction that supporters can identify with and be proud of.

He accepted recent inconsistency during a challenging spell and called for a new chapter rooted in the club’s foundations, with fresh energy and leadership to strengthen identity and support continued sporting development and ambitions.
