The Bolton boss has confirmed loanee Corey Blackett-Taylor has suffered a serious thigh injury.
Bolton Wanderers’ chances of promotion back to the Championship have taken a dent after boss Steven Schumacher confirmed there was a ‘big blow’ on the injury front.
The Trotters currently sit third in the League One standings, but will be disappointed to not have put more pressure on Cardiff City for an automatic promotion spot after being held to successive draws.
A 2-2 draw against Rotherham United last weekend was compounded by a goalless stalemate against Doncaster Rovers in midweek, two games Schumacher’s men really should be coming out on top in given their aspirations.
And now with eight games left, it looks like Bolton may have to settle for a top six place, with their opportunity of closing in on the top two slipping away after taking just two points from the last six on offer.
Bolton have to return to winning ways as quickly as possible to get some forward momentum going ahead of a crucial final run-in, with Wanderers travelling to basement boys Port Vale this weekend.
But any hopes of gaining maximum points are going to be made tougher after loanee Corey Blackett-Taylor suffered a thigh injury, which saw him withdrawn in the first half at Rotherham.
The results of his issue have come back, with Schumacher revealing it’s bad news and a ‘big blow’ for the club.

As per a report by The Bolton News, Wanderers boss Steven Schumacher confirmed Corey Blackett-Taylor’s thigh injury is a “serious” one and that the Derby County loanee will be required to see a specialist in a ‘big blow’.
Blackett-Taylor has been a standout player for Bolton ever since arriving in the January transfer window, but he was forced off in the first-half of their draw with Rotherham United last weekend.
And the results coming back are not good, with doubt creeping in that Blackett-Taylor may have played his last game for the Trotters.
Schumacher said: “He's had a scan. Unfortunately, it's a serious one. It's a decent grade, a thigh strain, high up on the tendon, so it's not going to be a quick fix.
“I don't think we're 100 per cent sure of the time frame yet, but it'll be a little while because he'll have to go and see his specialist and all that, and go back to Derby and figure out what the plan is.
“But it's a serious enough one that he did having that shot on Saturday, so it's disappointing, but it gives an opportunity for someone else.
“It's obviously a big blow because he has made an impact. It was one of them though. He's that explosive type of player, fast-twitch fibres and all that."

A thigh injury to winger Corey Blackett-Taylor has come at such a bad time for Bolton, particularly when the 28-year-old was beginning to make an impact at the Toughsheet Community Stadium and play a big part in their promotion push back to the Championship.
In seven games and five starts, Blackett-Taylor had recorded two goals and an assist in that time, impressing the Bolton faithful with his directness on the flank and willingness to cut inside and launch efforts on goal.
But Bolton ran the risk with his injury record over the last few years, and it has come back to bite them, with the Derby loanee now having another frustrating period sitting on the sidelines and may have his loan spell brought to an abrupt end.
All connected with Bolton will feel disheartened by this development, but other wingers now need to step up in his absence and continue to drive the Trotters forward so they secure a spot back in the second tier.
