‘Still we are not ready’ – Guardiola reacts to Man City’s win over Real Madrid

Pep Guardiola says his Manchester City side are still not ready to compete for the Champions League despite beating Real Madrid at the Bernabaeu.

Goals from Nico O’Reilly and Erling Haaland saw City come from behind to win after Rodrygo’s opener, and moved fourth in the league stage table with victory.

But Guardiola says his side still have a long way to go before they are ready to challenge for the trophy.

“We are away,” he told TNT Sports. “Still we are not ready.

“Important, but in February we will be better.

“We have been here in the past and played much better than today and we lose.

“You come here and it’s always difficult. That’s why I take it. The players made an incredible effort, an incredibly good result. The spirit is unbelievable.

“But still margin to improve.”
