Today, the club have confirmed a new deal. We understand it to be a two-year deal.

Arriving at Arsenal in 2022 from BK Hacken, Blackstenius has scored 64 goals for Arsenal with none more important than the one she scored in Lisbon in May to secure the Champions League for the Gunners.

“There’s really a reason why I’ve been at Arsenal now for four and a half years or whatever, it says something about what I think of the club and how I see the development there,” Blackstenius told fotbollskanalen.

“It’s a very inspiring environment to be in. It’s a very good level that I get to be in daily and I’m inspired by the people I train and play with. I would say that I feel like I’m in an environment where you have all the conditions. I really want to keep taking steps all the time so that really motivates me.”

Speaking to Arsenal, Blackstenius said, “Obviously, I’m really happy signing this new contract. I’ve been in the club for a long time now but I’m so happy to stay for some more time. I love playing for Arsenal and love the club, love the team and I’m just so excited for what’s ahead.

“The supporters we have, I feel like they always show up no matter what and it’s hard to describe because it really means so much for us as a team. I feel like they always have our back, no matter the game.

“I feel like they’re always so loud cheering us on, and it has helped us in so many games, so I feel like we’re really lucky to have supporters like that and it’s huge that we have that almost every game.

“I’m just really excited to come onto the pitch and hopefully bring as much as I can and give something to the team,” she added. “I just love to play for Arsenal and I’m really excited every time I’m coming on.

“We have a good relationship and like you said, we played together for a few years a long time ago. But it’s crazy to think that we’re here now and that she’s the coach. A good coach and she’s really done a good job with the team since taking over.”

Currently on international duty with Sweden, Blackstenius scored a 50th-minute winner to help her side beat Serbia 1-0. Sweden are currently second in their group, one point behind Denmark
