STJD charges Corinthians for objects thrown in Palmeiras derby

This Monday (3), Corinthians was once again reported by the STJD (Superior Court of Sports Justice) for throwing objects by its fans during the Derby against Palmeiras, which ended in a 1-1 draw on August 31, in a match valid for the 22nd round of the Brazilian Championship.

Corinthians was charged under the third item of article 213 of the CBJD (Brazilian Code of Sports Justice). In it, the Alvinegro can be fined between R$ 100 to R$ 100,000 for “failing to take measures capable of preventing and repressing: throwing objects onto the field or location of the sporting event.” The case will be judged next Thursday (6) at the STJD headquarters in Rio de Janeiro.

The match delegate, on the occasion, detailed in the document sent to the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) that there was object throwing at Palmeiras' goal, scored by Vitor Roque, from a penalty, in the first half, as well as a shirt during Corinthians' equalizing goal, scored by defender Gustavo Henrique, in the second half.

“I was informed by the operations supervisor that it was identified, through the VOC, that during the celebration of the visiting team's goal, water cups were thrown onto the field, not hitting any athlete. Additionally, during the celebration of the home team's goal, a fan threw a shirt towards the players. It was also reported that the fans were identified and referred to Jecrim.”

“I inform that at 15 minutes and 34 minutes of the match, the main referee handed over to the fourth referee, respectively, an earphone box and a lip gloss bottle thrown from the home crowd onto the field of play. I emphasize that both fans were identified and referred to Jecrim,” said the delegate in the document.

In the same document, it was also reported that some Corinthians fans unsuccessfully attempted to enter the stadium with a pig's head, as in the previous year, during the Derby for the 2024 Brazilian Championship. On that day, the object was thrown in the second half and the responsible person was identified and convicted.

Furthermore, Corinthians and Palmeiras were reported for delaying the start of the game – both charged under article 206 – and may face a fine of up to R$ 1,000.00.
