Stockport County have made an incredible start to League One life and newcomer Jayden Fevrier is off to flyer in his Hatters career.

The winger arrived this summer from League Two outfit Colchester United, with promises from manager Dave Challinor that he will "get fans off their seats" with his electric dribbling ability.

Just two league games into the season, it's clear to see that Challinor wasn't exaggerating; Fevrier is every bit the exciting player he was billed as.

Despite that, he is still waiting on his first league start for the Hatters; something the County boss is surely already thinking about and Fevrier himself will have eyes on. With Bristol Rovers coming up this weekend, his time could be on the way.

Fevrier needed no time to show what he's about on opening day

The 21-year-old was introduced to the Edgeley Park crowd as a substitute on the season's opening day against Cambridge United, replacing fellow new winger Jack Diamond in the 73rd minute.

He needed less than three minutes to show SK3 exactly what he's about.

Picking up the ball on the right flank, he twisted and turned on the edge of the box, dizzying his opposing number before whipping in an inch-perfect cross to the head of Kyle Wootton at the back post for him to nod home.

It was an incredible way to announce himself to his new team and left fans wanting more.

He went one better at Blackpool

If Cambridge at home was a good start, then Fevrier knew exactly what he needed to do to carry the momentum through, after a tricky Carabao Cup game against Blackburn Rovers where his 21 years made him one of the more senior players on the pitch.

He once again came on around the 70th minute in County's away fixture at Blackpool, replacing Louie Barry not long after his second goal of the season, and doubled the Hatters' lead having been on the pitch less than 15 minutes.

This time it was another young new signing - and now County captain - Lewis Bate who seized a loose ball in midfield from the Blackpool goalkeeper and dispatched it to Fevrier on the wing.

His presence entering the box was notable and, with the defence backpedalling, Fevrier rapidly cut inside and let off a killer strike with his left boot to make it 2-0, before running off to celebrate with an ecstatic away end.

Tough decision for Challinor shows squad strength

A goal and an assist in under 40 minutes of League One football leaves Fevrier with every right to make a case for him starting this weekend, but it doesn't make it an easy choice for Challinor to make.

Challinor made clear when signing Fevrier that he believes the winger can play anywhere across the front three, but with Louie Barry tearing it up on one wing, Kyle Wootton looking a real threat through the middle and Tanto Olaofe - the third scorer at Blackpool - already challenging from the sidelines, Fevrier may need to replace Diamond in the starting XI.

That is no easy call for the manager to make, because Diamond has made strong contributions from the flanks, but it is becoming harder to ignore the raw output of Fevrier.

It goes to demonstrate just how strong County's squad is this season, despite a lengthy list of injuries, and gives Challinor the sort of selection issues every manager dreams of.

How Challinor lines up against the Gas remains to be seen, but Fevrier has a powerful case to make for muscling his way into a starting spot.
