Having completed her Juventus Women signing from Valerenga on deadline day of the winter transfer window, new Bianconera Emma Stolen Godo has spoken for the first time since joining the club.
The 24-year-old Norwegian outlined her ambitions with the Bianconere, and let us know a little bit more about what we can expect to see from her.
“Right now I’m very happy and it’s a big day for me to join this club. I couldn’t believe it at the start of the week, but it all happened so fast and now I’m here. But that’s football and I’m happy to be here.”
Emma is leaving her native Norway for the first time in her career, and she's doing so to join a team that she has some experience playing against, having faced the Bianconere twice in this season's Women's Champions League.
“I’m excited, of course, it’s something new for me. I’ve always dreamt of playing abroad in Europe, outside of Norway, so I hope I’ll have a good time here and I’ve heard a lot of good things about the club. I’m sure it will go well.”
“The team is good. I played against them twice this season and it was a bit different, the way of playing. But it was interesting for me to see that and I remember we played very well at home but it was more difficult in Biella. It’s a good team and there are a lot of good players here, so I’m happy to join.”
So what can we expect from Emma, then? How is she as a player?
“First of all, I’m a midfielder but can play in more offensive roles too, but mainly in midfield. I’m physical, I like to always be on the ball, I like to carry it with me and to create things going forward. I’m good when it comes to individual battles as well and I enjoy tackling too.”
Another January signing, Mathilde Harviken, is a familiar face for Stolen Godo, and Mathilde played her part in the move as well.
“Juventus called Valerenga on Friday so I called Mathilde [Harviken] to ask how it was, she’s only been here for three weeks but she knows a bit. We had a long conversation about it, I’m happy she’s here because it makes it a bit easier for me to settle.”
