The trial period has ended and now a new period has started.
Story over: Collins Nwoburuoke signs with Durban City FC
The path to professional football is rarely a straight line, a truth Nigerian defender Collins Nwoburuoke knows all too well. Arriving in South Africa with the promise of a fresh start at Durban City FC, his move unexpectedly stalled, leaving his future in limbo. Undeterred, the young centre-back seized an opportunity, spending recent weeks on trial with the storied Orlando Pirates, hoping to impress coach Abdeslam Ouaddou and earn a coveted contract.
However, the Buccaneers' defensive ranks were already crowded, a fortress manned by the likes of Sibisi, Mbokazi, Seema, Xoki, Ndah, and Sesane. Despite his efforts, a door at the Soweto giants did not open. Yet, as one door closed, another was finally pushed ajar.
His agent, Mike Makaab, has now confirmed that Nwoburuoke's original destination has been reached. The promising defender has officially penned a deal with Durban City FC. "He is a player who has a lot of potential, and he will definitely play a role in the PSL," Makaab stated to FARPost, revealing that the transfer was secured just before the window closed and now only awaits the finalization of administrative paperwork.
This resolution brings a welcome subplot to Durban City's own encouraging narrative. Freshly promoted and under the ownership of Farook Kadodia, the team has enjoyed a decent start to the Betway Premiership season. Currently sitting third in the standings with 15 points from nine matches, they are building a promising campaign. Now, with Nwoburuoke's journey finally leading him to their door, they are set to add a determined new talent to their ambitious project.
