Toulouse won 2-1 at Strasbourg on Sunday, with Dayann Methalie outstanding and Mike Penders enduring a difficult night. According to L'Équipe, the post-match ratings underlined that contrast.
Samuel Amo-Ameyaw put Racing ahead with a fine left-foot finish into the side-netting. Methalie then levelled, timing his run past Oyedele and steering a composed effort inside Penders’s near post. Emersonn, not rated, came on for Russel-Rowe at 58 minutes, later took Cristian Casseres’s diagonal, burst between Högsberg and Omobamidele and beat Penders.
Casseres was given 7 for his long passing and vision. He created both goals with two superb balls in behind to Methalie and Emersonn. Methalie also earned 7 for a classy run and precise near-post finish.
Amo-Ameyaw, rated 7, was Strasbourg’s best, a persistent menace down the right. By contrast, Gessime Yassine scored 3 after a subdued display on the left.
Penders was marked 3, mainly for Methalie’s goal after he anticipated a cross and left his right side exposed. He might also have stepped out to narrow Emersonn’s angle. Andrew Omobamidele, on for Doukouré, was not rated and was twice caught in behind, the second preceding Emersonn’s finish. Striker Yaya Diémé, 18, received 3 after a bruising night as referee M. Angoula let plenty go.
