West Ham United are interested in appointing Strasbourg manager Gary O’Neil to replace Nuno Espirito Santo, according to the Guardian.

The Hammers are expected to part ways with Nuno following their relegation from the Premier League.

They are identifying potential replacements to replace Nuno, and O’Neil has emerged as a target.

Former Burnley manager Scott Parker is also being eyed as West Ham look for their fifth manager in two years.

O’Neil led Strasbourg to an eighth-place finish in the just-concluded Ligue 1 campaign, missing out on qualification for next term’s Europa Conference League qualifiers by just one point.

He joined them in January, replacing Liam Rosenior, who left for Chelsea. However, he could be on his way back to England.

O’Neil was with Wolverhampton Wanderers before moving to France, spending 16 months with them.

He also worked with Bournemouth as a coach before becoming the first-team manager, and he brings plenty of experience to the table.

However, Parker could be the best man for the job given his record in the second tier.

He has won promotion to the Premier League with three clubs – Fulham, Bournemouth and Burnley – doing so in his first season in charge of each club.

However, Parker’s managerial struggles in the top-flight are well-documented, and West Ham could have doubts about handing him a long-term contract.

They need to get key decisions right this summer if they are to achieve an immediate return to the Premier League, and fans would prefer new owners in charge.
