Strasbourg sealed three late deals on Tuesday, lifting their summer haul to 17 as a sweeping rebuild continues after a €25m UEFA fine for Financial Fair Play breaches, €12m suspended.
According to L'Équipe, centre-forward Conrad Harder, 21, joined on loan without option from Leipzig in the morning. He was followed in the evening by Deivid Washington, 21, signed from Chelsea for €8m, excluding bonuses, on a five-year contract. His arrival was delayed by the birth of his child in Brazil.
Washington joins Jacobo Ortega, 20, formerly of Real Madrid, and Sékou Mara in attack. Joaquin Panichelli has a serious knee injury and is due back for the second half of the season. In January, RCSA could have five strikers for one spot in Hugo Oliveira's 4-2-3-1, though he could go with two.
Strasbourg also made Dario Essugo their third and final permitted loan from Chelsea, after goalkeeper Filip Jörgensen and full-back Genesis Antwi. The 21-year-old Portuguese defensive midfielder, signed from Sporting Portugal for €22m last summer, played only 26 Premier League minutes last season and hopes to relaunch his career, prompting Mathis Amougou's exit.
Amougou joined Toulouse on loan until June with no option to buy. The club then sold Ivory Coast right-back Guéla Doué to Bayer Leverkusen for €30m, having paid €6m to Rennes two years ago. Soumaïla Coulibaly, targeted by Swansea, instead joined Watford on loan with an option to buy, as Racing ended with 22 departures, including four loan expiries, and 17 arrivals, for a profit above €100m.
