A much-changed Liverpool fell to defeat in a pre-season friendly against French side Strasbourg on Sunday.
Scorers: Thomasson 4â˛, 21â˛, Diallo 14â˛
Having played a first-choice side in Saturdayâs Community Shield success over Manchester City, Liverpool manager JĂźrgen Klopp turned to his youngsters for this Anfield encounter.
The hosts got off to a poor start when teenage defender Isaac Mabaya was caught napping at the back post, which allowed Adrien Thomasson to nip in and chip over Harvey Davies.
The Redsâ other young full-back Luke Chambers was then left with his head in his hands after Habib Diallo punished a blind pass by firing home at the Kop End with a superb finish.
Thomasson went on to notch his second of the game to leave the youthful Reds 3-0 in arrears after barely 20 minutes.
It was left to more experienced heads such as Joe Gomez and James Milner to steady the ship, with no further goals shipped or added in the second half.
Klopp is unlikely to be too perturbed by the result or performance, with attention now turning to next Saturdayâs opening Premier League clash at Fulham.
