According to reports from L’Équipe, Frédéric Guilbert is in and Ronaël Pierre-Gabriel is out of Strasbourg. The 24-year-old who was brought in on loan to fill in for Karol Fila seems to be headed to La Liga side – Espanyol.
The former Saint-Étienne right-back was a very highly rated up-and-coming defender before being plagued by injuries and setbacks. With RCSA he has managed to find playing time but has been mostly used as a substitute.
As a player, he is a very well-rounded defender. Not only does he have good size for a fullback, but speed to keep up with the pace of La Liga’s strikers. On the ball, he is efficient and solid technically. If he can continue with his recent stretch health, he is the type of player who has the quality to reestablish himself as a top defender at his position.
There should be more details on the possible move very soon as the arrival of Frédéric Guilbert should be formalized in the coming hours.
