Strasbourg’s complicated window as departures drag and recruitment stalls

UEFA-imposed financial constraints have left Strasbourg cautious in the window, with reinforcements needed after two pre-season defeats.
L'Équipe notes the club are holding out for stronger fees on departures, a stance that has delayed arrivals.
On 18 May, Valentin Barco announced he was leaving, a surprise for Strasbourg given he remains under contract until 2029.
After 11 weeks, the expected transfer of the Argentine midfielder to Chelsea, worth about €35m, is still not completed.
Strasbourg have been fined €13m for breaching financial fair play rules, with a further €12m suspended until January, and they badly need those funds.
