Striker equals second-best season tally for Corinthians in Brasileirão

Corinthians hosted Mirassol on the night of Saturday, October 4th, for the 27th round of the Brasileirão, and defeated the opponent 3-0. The match was significant for forward Yuri Alberto, who achieved impressive personal milestones by scoring the second goal for the Alvinegro Paulista.

The goal scored against the team from the interior of São Paulo was the 15th for the number 9 in 45 matches played this season. With this, he matched his second-highest number of goals scored in a season for Corinthians. In 2023, the forward also found the net 15 times, but in 63 matches played.

Yuri Alberto's best record for Timão and also in his entire career is from 2024, when he scored 31 goals in 57 games, being the top scorer in Brazil that year. In 2022, the year he joined Corinthians, he played only 28 games and scored 11 goals, as he debuted for the club in July.

Additionally, the forward reached a historic milestone in the Brazilian Championship. Yuri Alberto reached 55 goals scored in 143 matches played in the national competition, becoming the second-highest scorer of the tournament this decade.

The Corinthians forward, Yuri Alberto, surpassed Pedro from Flamengo, who has 54 goals in 133 matches, and now occupies the second position in the ranking, only behind Hulk from Atlético-MG, who leads with 60 goals in 138 games. The data was released by the profile R10 Score on the platform X.

Besides this achievement, Yuri Alberto also appears at the top of two other rankings: the number 9 is the top scorer at Neo Química Arena, with 47 goals in 100 matches, and has scored 72 goals this century, being the main scorer for Corinthians in this period.

Now, the number 9 and the rest of the Corinthians squad will only return to the field after the FIFA date, on the next October 15th, a Wednesday, at 9:30 PM (Brasília time), when they will visit Santos at Vila Belmiro for the 28th round of the Brazilian Championship.
