Sheffield United signed Harrison Burrows from Peterborough United in the summer of 2024, but the left-back has had mixed seasons at Bramall Lane so far.

It's known that there has been criticism of Burrows throughout the season from Blades fans on social media, with many seemingly believing he’s dropped off massively from his debut campaign at Bramall Lane.

After scoring 12 and assisting 17 for Posh in all competitions in his final season with the club, Sheffield United offered him the opportunity to make the step up to the Championship, signing him for an initial £3 million. The dynamic full-back then scored six and notched a further six assists in 48 games last term.

Four of those 12 goal involvements came against Bristol City in the play-offs, with the Blades scoring six without reply against the Robins. However, things have not gone as well for him this term.

Harrison Burrows backed to improve with Sheffield United despite struggles

In 2025/26, under Ruben Selles and Chris Wilder, Burrows has featured in 31 games so far. However, only 18 of those have been starts and he has provided just one goal and three assists this term.

Jimmy, the host of the Blades Ramble YouTube channel and FLW's Sheffield United fan pundit, was asked about Burrows and whether he agrees with the sentiment that he has dropped off. And, if so, what’s gone wrong for him? Also, can the left-back fix it?

He told FLW: "I do think it's fair to say that about Harrison Burrows. He'll be disappointed with his season as well but a lot of our players have had really poor starts.

"And it's taken some a long time to recover. Michael Cooper and Gus Hamer are just another two we could name. They are two of the ones that have rectified it later on in the season.

"And some are still criticising Cooper so, yes, it is a concern. But the thing we do know about Burrows is that he's got undoubted quality. So, Sam McCallum had got in the team in front of him.

"That was a challenge for him to get back in. He's back in by default now due to McCallum's recent injury. But Leo Hjelde is no slouch behind him, so he is going to have to play well to stay in this side.

"He's been disappointing so far, but I have every confidence he will come good."

Harrison Burrows' potential impact in Sheffield United's run-in

Burrows, on paper, is still one of the division's outstanding full-backs. His quality in terms of attacking is likely to be crucial, with his ability to overlap and get towards the box so crucial last season.

With the Blades looking to get to the play-offs, getting at teams and scoring goals is arguably the most important aspect between now and the end of May - that is why Chris Wilder will be desperate to get more from him.

Perhaps even more impressive is the fact Burrows has played so many games in his career, having only turned 24 last month. Leadership and calm heads in the dressing room are also required, with Burrows captaining Posh from the age of 22.

He has the technical quality and intangibles to set him apart from other options at Wilder's disposal at left-back, but the fresh competition of Leo Hjelde, who is definitely more defensively-orientated than Burrows is, is going to be interesting to witness.

For now, Burrows looks the best fit for Sheffield United going forward at left-back, but he does need to step up a level or two on what he has been showing in recent months if he's going to be back to his best.
