Struggling Beerschot set to be without captain for rest of the calendar year

Beerschot have announced that their captain, Ryan Sanusi, has successfully undergone surgery. The 32-year-old has missed the last few matches for the struggling side, who will now have to do without the midfielder till the end of 2024. This is certainly a blow for the side, given that Sanusi brings top flight experience as well as quality to the central areas. Beerschot, promoted from the second tier as champions last season, have really struggled and sit bottom of the Pro League.

Sanusi joined the side in 2019 and has gone on to make 127 appearances for the side. The Belgian midfielder began his career in the Netherlands with Willem II, before having spells with Top Oss and Sparta Rotterdam before spending a year with Grenoble.

Sanusi is likely to miss some key games at the bottom of the Pro League, with Beerschot set to face Kortrijk, Standard Liege and OH Leuven in the next few weeks.
