Alexander Wehrle took several digs at FC Bayern during VfB Stuttgart’s general meeting on Sunday. The Stuttgart CEO reviewed the Nick Woltemade saga from last summer before commenting on the DFB-Pokal final.

The two clubs entered negotiations for the Germany international before Newcastle United arrived to complete the deal for over €75 million. Wehrle referred to Bayern’s offer for the striker as a little more than “a butter pretzel”.

Having seen the reactions from the club members to his joke, Wehrle went on to take another dig at the Rekordmeister. “I have not heard from fans of FC Bayern.” said the 50-year-old regarding the atmosphere at Olympiastadion for the DFB-Pokal final.

FC Bayern completed the double with Harry Kane’s hat-trick as they recorded their fourth win of the season over Stuttgart. Meanwhile, the Swabians achieved their goal of returning to the Champions League with a fourth-place finish in Bundesliga.

On the contrary, Woltemade had a difficult time in England after a strong start to his Premier League spell. However, The Athletic declined rumors linking the striker with a loan move out for the upcoming season.
