Stuttgart coach Sebastian Hoeneß a candidate for the Real Madrid job | OneFootball

Real Madrid are monitoring VfB Stuttgart coach Sebastian Hoeneß, according to Sport Bild.

The report suggests that the 43-year-old is one of the candidates being considered to become the new head coach of the Spanish capital club.

Álvaro Arbeloa is currently in charge of Real Madrid on an interim basis after Xabi Alonso was sacked at the start of the year. However, as he has failed to spark a real turnaround, a change is widely expected in the summer.

So far, however, Real Madrid have yet to make contact with Hoeneß or Stuttgart, as per the report.

With Hoeneß under contract until 2028 and without a release clause, Real Madrid would have to pay a transfer fee to secure his services, should it come to that.

According to Sport Bild, Real Madrid first took serious notice of the Stuttgart coach and his philosophy during a Champions League match in September 2024. Real won 3-1 thanks to two late goals in a closely contested match where Stuttgart impressed against the Spanish favourites.

Chelsea and Manchester United have previously been linked with Hoeneß, who joined Stuttgart from Hoffenheim in April 2023.
